More speculation. I am sure my folks heard this same shit during the 1970's!
are you willing to say goodbye to ALL your material possessions now?
I am sure the washtowel is willing to take control of everyone's possessions now....
this came from a reply on a message board:.
re the arrangement for the visiting governing body and another ny bethel representative, the expenses are not shouldered by a particular cong.
this is not the arrangement here in our country.

random memorial mainstreaming thought.
is it possible to allow all to partake and save face and authority?.
then it occured to me that yes, and quite simply too.. ahh new .
I've got $20 says that the WT isnt' around in 20 years. At least not as it exist now.
I'll take some of that action!
i grew up in the same town as kent leppink.
my older brother actually knew him personally.
the sad thing is that what happened to kent was used by my parents (and probably other local jw's) as a cautionary tale as to what happens when you live "in the world.
jw's always use tragic events to emphasize their point of view
But they ignore children screaming for help and justice from some real monsters preying on them inside the fold...
how many here have had jw friends that can only have a good time when they drink?
i've known plenty - ones with obvious drinking problems.
not necessarialy alcoholics, but ones that equate good times with drinking, and drinking alone.
I know a few. They drink and act like assholes then pretend they don't.
are you completely devoid of fear regarding jws in your life at this point?
I do not fear them so much as I dread them. Or rather some of them. I know what to expect from a handful of them and they usually pry and get into my business. I dread what I may do.
in my experience spanish speaking brothers adopt a more submissive approach toward the society.
many of these brothers consult the elders on minor personal matters that they should be deciding for themselves.
i know this is common among witnesses in general, however, i think brothers from spanish speaking congregations take it to the extreme.
I was raised a jw from about age 6 and spent most of the time in the washtowel in Spanish congs. What I noticed there and my dad would often "murmur" about was that the white brothers would be there to boss the Hispanics. They would dictate everything. The Hispanos could handle the cong but when it came to an assembly or anything like that, they had to have a white brother to answer to.
this usually works for me.. "i'm very interested in what you have to say, but first i'd like to ask you a question.
would you enjoy getting the watchtower magazine from me and studying our books?
click..............bzzzzzzzzzzzzz........ outaservice .
They irritate the hell outta me. So I play some games now and then. I accuse them of trying to screw my wife LOL But one I use more often when I have some time to kill is act all interested, tie up their phone for as long as I can acting like they have me sold, then I say to hold for a sec.....
When I come back on I tell them I need to go take care of something right away but if they want to give me their hoime number I will be happy to call them later. They say no of course. So I say, so you on't like being bothered at home with work or business? If they say ofcourse I say...Now you know how I feel!
Stolen from Jerry Seinfeld
i don't believe (fill in the blank).... the borg isn't the fds.... the jws are a cult.... the jws are apostates.... anything else?.
.
Here goes....
I read in the bible that everlasting life is a free gift
in the mid-to-late 90's i remember the new trend was that a lot of the people that were jw's started pulling their kids out of regular public school and started homeschooling them.
the absolute worst were the kids who had been homeschooled from kindergarten all the way until they graduated.
those poor kids were the most weird, unsocial, naive, sheltered, unadjusted, and uneducated kids i'd ever met.
think your child's education depends on the amount of effort that parents and children put into it, no matter what school they attend. The goal is for them to attend college, right? Move up in the world?
That is absolutely correct inour situation. I have never encouraged my son to NOT go to school or college, in fact I never shut up about how necessary higher education is...whether in this world or the next God gave us minds with a thirst for knowledge. It is simply unconcienable to deprive a child of a chance to choose their path and then pursue it.

you've sure opened a can of worms here
I have been homeschooling my son since halfway thru kindergarten and he is a sophomore in High School now. (I have taken him to a few meetings over the years but religion was never an issue in school for him.) He was originally in public school, however his mom got really sick and was hospitalized for almost a month. I had to work and my mom came to live with us and care for the kids so I could work. Well, one of his teachers was a real bitch and was overly critical of our situation. So, I took him home and taught him myself the rest of the year. It went so well that I enrolled him in an excellent and highly accreditted Charter Homeschool. Well, the school teacher and principal from the public school called the cops and told them we had NOT enrolled him, so two cops came with the truancy officer to harrass us and try to force us to enroll him that minute. Seems that if a child lives in the school district and is not enrolled in the school, they lose funds...LOL Also, if he needed lunch or access to scholl facilities, they would have to grant them free of charge with no comp from the Fed..... I just showed them his work progress and the paperwork from his school and they left.
My son is very well adjusted, he has friends inside the washtowel and in the world. He plays guitar, spends time on the internet, and is doing very well. Despite my homeschooling him, he seems like he will be just fine, he is ecouraged by me to question anything and everything and prove things to himself and not rely on anyone's take on something to form an opinion. I can say this, homeschooling may not be the source of trouble with the kids mentioned above. More than likely it is exposure to the washtowel society and their brand of micromanaging the thoughts and ideas of its members.
